The California Master Beekeeper Program was established in 2016 in response to the ever-increasing numbers of beekeepers in California. The program uses science-based information to educate stewards and ambassadors for Honey bees and beekeeping.
The interest in bees and beekeeping is growing throughout the country. The California Master Beekeeper Program (CAMBP) is designed for beekeeping at the urban and homesteader levels, and for small hobbyists who would like to share their knowledge. We aim to include the various bee clubs throughout the state and encourage an ongoing interest in keeping bees.
So, you want to be a Master Beekeeper?
Then this program is perfect for you! The mission of the California Master Beekeeper Program is to provide science-based education to future stewards and ambassadors for Honey bees and beekeeping.
The Apprentice Level is designed to build a solid foundation of basic beekeeping skills and
knowledge. Participants may stop at the Apprentice Level or continue on to the more advanced
levels: Journeyman and Master.
Beekeepers enrolling in this certificate program must have at least 1 year of beekeeping experience.
Learn about the Levels
The program has three levels through which participants can progress: Apprentice, Journeyman, Master. The Apprentice Level is designed to build a solid foundation of basic beekeeping skills and knowledge. The Journeyman Level will build upon the basics learned in the Apprentice Level and it will provide more comprehensive learning about Honey bee biology, synergism with wild pollinators, as well as higher level apiculture expertise. Participants may stop at lower levels or continue on to the more advanced levels, depending on their needs and desires. The Master Level is still in progress.
