How to ID and mitigate for the four “P”s (parasites, pests, pesticides, pathogens, pasture and pollination). Includes discussion of IPM pyramid to guide proactive treatment plans.
Class Objectives
- Review the Pyramid of IPM Tactics to guide their proactive treatment plans for colony health
- Review how to test for Nosema
- Review ant protocols
- Identify signs of AFB, EFB, CBP, DWV and other honey bee pathogens
- Identify pests of the honey bee
- Determine reasons for pathogen spread
- Review the California Apiary Protection Act and determine the protocol for AFB infested hives.
