Field Days are FREE and open to all CAMBP members who have completed the CAMBP Apprentice requirements.
Under the direction of Bernardo Niño, Head of Research at UBEES Inc., and CAMBP instructor, we will explore various technological applications specific to beekeeping and examine their impact on colony management at the backyard, sideliner and commercial levels.
We will hear from local beekeepers who have built hive scales and data collection programs. We will also review the importance of various techniques of record keeping. Participants are invited and encouraged to share the current record keeping methods and/or technology used in their apiary.
This Field Day is open to 2016 and 2017 CAMBP Apprentices. There are only 25 seats available, so please reserve your seat ASAP.
Upon completion of this Field Day, participants will be able to:
- Identify, understand and explain the technology available to beekeepers
- Interpret the data from various technological sources available to beekeepers and learn what it might be indicating about the state of a colony
- Learn how to build and use technology in your apiary
The Field day will be hosted at the E. L. Niño Bee Lab, 1 Bee Biology Rd, Davis, CA 95618 from 9am – 4:00pm on Friday October 12th, 2018. Refreshments and a catered lunch will be served.
